Ithaca Police Leaders Honor Special Olympics Commitment
Staff Report / Ithacalocal.org
Two members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New York, Lieutenant Barry Banfield and Lieutenant Mary Orsaio, recently participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) International Conference held in San Antonio, Texas. At the conference, they engaged in various events, including a Torch Run to The Alamo, where they ran alongside law enforcement officers from around the globe to support Special Olympics.
Since its inception in 1981, the Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised over $1 billion for Special Olympics, significantly benefiting athletes and their families worldwide. The Ithaca Police Department expresses pride in the commitment demonstrated by Lieutenants Banfield and Orsaio in leading efforts to support individuals with intellectual disabilities.
